I was visiting family, it's a nice place to live with quiet streets and a shopping precinct catering for the all the basics. The area is mainly residential although it is surrounded by scenic hills and a beautiful coastline. Staying in the village does allow people either walk to, or leave their car at the nearby station to catch the train into Wellington, avoiding the busy traffic and expensive parking. Its well worth catching the train to Paekākāriki at sunset to enjoy the wonderful views towards Kapiti Island, there are also two excellent museums nearby - the "Southward Car Museum" and "the Wellington Tramway Museum" located at the Queen Elizabeth Park.
